Black Voices Matter: a LitSoc Performance Platform

Aberdeen University's English Literature Society is hosting an online event in support of the Black Lives Matter movement starting tonight (10th July) at 6 pm. The event will be a digital performance week giving creatives of colour the centre stage. The main goal of this event is to act as a platform for black authors and performers to amplify and celebrate black voices.

For every submission, the Literature Society will donate £20 to Black Curriculum, a UK organisation working to include racial issues in the educational curriculum. Black British history being taught in schools will provide young people of colour with a sense of belonging and improve social cohesion, thus, reducing hate crimes.

The pieces are to be posted across the society's Facebook and Instagram accounts with the aim to post the work of one creative each day. The event will end on the 17th July.
